By the year of 2001, KIDECO was able to produce 10 million tons of coal annually, and currently KIDECO’s annual production is at 35.7 million tons, with a cumulative production of 600 million tons by 2021.

but also the stable supply of coal to its customers.
Coal Hauling
Coal hauling is the process of carrying crushed coal by coal haulers from the crushing plant to the coal stockyard, Tanah Merah Coal Terminal (TMCT) which is 40 km away from the crushing plant. KIDECO ‘s dedicated haul road is a Macadam driveway for all-weather, all-season.
It is much safer and more efficient as coal transport road compared with those of other mines. Currently, coal transport of KIDECO is taken charge of by three companies including PT. MHA, PT. Trasindo, PT. Samindo specializing on coal transport.
Tanah Merah Coal Terminal
Coal stockpiling is the process in which coal is transported to the coal stockyard and to be loaded onto the barges for transshipment.
The coal carried by coal hauler is either conveyed to coal stockyard at Tanah Merah Coal Terminal, or loaded directly onto barges.
KIDECO equipped its conveyor systems with the automatic samplers which take samples for quality analysis, and with magnetic separators, located at each convyor lines, which seperate foreign materials from the coal. The stockyard capacity of Tanah Merah Coal Terminal is 700,000 tonnes a year.
The barge loading facilities can load more than 90,000 tonnes a day, making it possible to reach sales target of over 40 million tonnes a year.

Transshipment
Transshipment is the process of carrying coal by barge from the coal stockyard to the transshipment location, and transshiping coal onto the big-sized vessel waiting at the transshipment location.
8,000 ~ 12,000 dwt barges are towed by 2,400 HP tug boats to KIDECO’s transshipment location, Adang Bay which is 59 km away from Tanah Merah Coal Terminal. Transshipment is done by using either vessel’s own gear or Floating Crane and Floating Loading Facility(F.L.F) at Adang Bay. Adang Bay can handle up to the Cape size vessels (100,000 ~ 150,000 dwt).

Our Green Process
KIDECO commits to environmental preservation by rejuvenating the surrounding to its original state. Native trees are replanted in the areas that had been mined-out and run-off water is collected in settling ponds to protect the river from pollution
1. Overburden Removal
KIDECO operates an open-pit mine where the soil is removed from the surface to extract the coal. The overburden removal process involves removing the top soil by using heavy equipment and conveying them to the waste disposal area located outside the pit.
2. Coal Production
Coal is mined using excavator then transported from the pit either to two ROM stockpiles, MCCP and SMCP. At ROM stockpile, the quality management program is performed to supply proper quality to the customers.
3. Crushing
The coal from ROM stockpiles is put through the crushing plant where the coal is crushed to a size under 50 mm. The crushing plant is equipped with magnetic separators.
4. Overhauling
Crushed coal is transported using coal haulers from the crushing plant to the barge loading port. KIDECO constructed a 39 km private hauling road that a stretch of all-weather macadam with minimum curves and hills. The road stability results in more efficient coal transportation compared to the other mines.
5. Barge loading
KIDECO operates private barge loading port called Tanah Merah Coal Terminal (TMCT). From the hauler, the coal is either stored in TMCT stockyard or directly loaded onto the barges. Stockyard capacity of TMCT is 700,000 ton. KIDECO operates 6 coal loaders with barge loading capacity up to 150,000 tons per day. There are automatic samplers and magnetic separators on the coal loading conveyors for stringent quality control and for analysis of coal quality assisted by 3 on-site independent international surveyors.
6. Transshipment
Coal barge is towed to the offshore transshipment point at Adang Bay which is 58 km away from TMCT. Transshipment is either carried by a crane of the mother vessel, a floating crane or floating loading facility (FLF) with the combined loading capacity over 50 million tons per year.
Environment-Friendly Coal Mine
The Paser mine which KIDECO operates is located in Paser Regency (Kabupatan), Kalimantan Province, over 1,300 km away from the Northeast of Jakarta.
The Paser mine is an environment-friendly coal mine which started to produce coal commercially in 1993 after the long preparation from the early 1980s to the early 1990s by KIDECO including exploration, feasibility studies, and constructing all sorts of mining facilities.
From 1,2 million tons in the first year of production, the annual production volume has continued to increase, reaching almost 40 million tons currently. The accumulated volume passed 600 million tons in 2021.
